It was my bar of choice while at Penn State and I still stop by every time I return to State College. A great bar.

Sanlitun/Gongti is the only real choice for a bar scene. Not sure what 10 is referring to, Sanlitun has changed a lot and as long as you avoid the lame bar strip facing the Village, you'll be fine. There are a few decent spots around Nanluoguxiang, Mao Mao Chong is a good one, as well as Amilal and Great Leap Brewery (though the beer is almost always served too warm). The Houhai area is awful and should be avoided at all costs at night as since about 2007, all the riff raff that used to be around Sanlitun has migrated west. Beijing's drinking scene has expanded a lot, just in Sanlitun there are wine bars, ****tail bars, whiskey bars, beer bars, etc, so it would help to know what you're looking for.
