First, I want to apologize for the delay in responding to your question.
In terms of respect, if a program is accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, you’ve started on the right path. Further, if the program is regionally accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges, the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges, the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, or the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, it will be regarded even higher. You didn’t say what you wanted to obtain your Master’s in, so I can’t give you the most respected program level accrediting organization, but if the school is regionally accredited, I don’t think you would have any issue with the degree being regarded as a joke.
Numerous schools offer their Master’s program entirely online and more seem to be coming online all the time. I think most schools recognize that not every student has the opportunity or desire to attend full time and I think most companies recognize that as well.
For more information on accreditation, please see:
Accreditation - College Kingdom. If you care to provide more information on the program you are looking to obtain your masters in, I’d be happy to try to provide some more information. Feel free to PM me if you would prefer to keep this information confidential.
