Re: The difference between homeschooling and Unschooling
Homeschooling means school-at-home. At home there might be desks, some of the text books, a bell and an assembly meeting in the morning as most of the public schools are having. The parents play the role of teacher, preparing lesson plans, assigning homework or tests, and grading papers.
But in unschooling it is assumed that learning can happen anywhere and at anytime. Here learning is an ongoing, natural process and doesn't need any fixed curriculum to be followed. The students do not need an "expert" to teach them. If they have an interest, they can go out and pursue the knowledge they need.
Usually people who accepted the teaching techniques of school but wanted more control over the subject matter, socialization, or morals that their children were exposed to accept the homeschooling. While those people who dislike the teaching techniques and environment of school go for unschooling.
